Warm or cold, spring is here and with it comes seasonal activities around the farm. Our beef cows have been enjoying their expanded grazing area and have blessed us with several new calves. Two will head to the fair with Morgan as 4-H projects this fall, along with her pygmy goats.
Late March provided an unexpected opportunity to complete some field work, which will help speed up the planting process once soil conditions are right. It also included working in spring fertilizer and topdressing our wheat.
We strive to provide consistently high-quality freezer beef, and animal care plays a large role in helping us achieve that goal. Livestock pens received a thorough spring cleaning to provide a healthy environment. We’ve also been busy mixing and delivering feed to ensure adequate supply.
